Meet Some of Our Members
Here is a list of some of our members who have chosen to make their profiles public.
New Members - What to Expect
What are the steps if you are interested to know more?
Starting as a Guest
- Come along as a guest to one of our meetings for an obligation free visit. See whether the meeting is something that fits your needs.
- As a guest, it is optional to be involved in the meeting through the Table Topics Session (a 1 minute impromptu speaking segment).
- You will receive a Guest Pack on your first visit with information about Toastmasters. It will include a Membership Application Form and a Fees table (you can pay for 6 or 12 months).
- If you decide to join, complete the Membership Application Form and organise to pay your fees.
Becoming Inducted as a Member
- You will then be Inducted into the Toastmasters club through a very simple Induction process.
- A club mentor will be assigned to you to help with any questions you may have. They will also be able to provide feedback on your 1st three speeches if you would like help.
- At your Induction you will be given the Club Handbook which outlines all the club's roles.
- Prepare for your first speech - the Icebreaker - a 4-6 minute speech which is usually something personal that you would like to share with others.
Being an Active Member
- You will need to login to Toastmasters International and decide upon your personalised Pathway in the education program. You will take a self-assessment quiz which will help you decide on your Path. Once your path is registered, you can read through the requirements for the first speech - the Icebreaker.
- The Vice President Education will book you in to deliver your speech at the next convenient meeting.
- You can start to get involved in the other roles, such as the Sergeant at Arms and Welcome to Guests roles (these are explained in the Club Handbook).
- As you become more confident, you can try the Speech Evaluator and Table Topics Master roles.
- When you are ready, you can nominate to be the Toastmaster for a meeting!
- When convenient for you, the Vice President Education will schedule your prepared speeches. You will follow your path online. Don't worry if you don't like working online - the material is available for a small fee in printed format.
